Interweaving Forces
2017
Interweaving Forces is a model that is composed of three layers of laser-cut patterns representing the site forces such as views, vegetation, and circulation of vehicles and pedestrians in Sapporo, Japan.

The layers of site forces interact with each other in z-direction, creating another dimension in which structural components start to appear.

When the model was constructed, there were moments where unexpected improvisation produced components that are rather organic.

There are moments throughout the model that start to exhibit structural aspects, which eventually inspired my design for Nitobe Inazo Memorial Hall.
